To whom it may concern,

I am writing this letter of introduction to give you more insight as to who I am, my passions, and my life both academically and personally. Being the daughter of two immigrant parents I can say that life has never been boring. Enriched by my culture and family I have always found love in the smallest things. Even when I experienced hardships growing up, I have learned to be patient and let things go. I have had many good experiences and achievements even as small as winning a prize at a carnival. In middle school, I remember winning 1st place at the coding competition with my partner. We created a game with basic python and CSS. I felt very accomplished that our shark race game was able to place 1st. Another accomplishment I had was in my junior year when my team won 2nd place in the Infy app program. We were supposed to use Adobe XD to make our prototype but had to find an alternative which ended up working fine. Our team needed a logo for our app, and I decided to draw and design it since I also like to draw. I am profoundly grateful for all the opportunities I was willing to get in my academic years which helped me learn what I am good at and what my passions are.

Although I have had plenty of experience with coding, I do not want to major in computer science. In my junior year of high school, I entered an apprenticeship program at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden which unraveled the path to my future. Throughout all my years of living, I had never had the opportunity to go to a garden so that was something new for me. In the garden, I discovered my passion for learning about environmental science through all the horticulture work that I did. We made dishes with our harvest and learned about how to take care of our plant beds and the science that goes behind plants. This experience showed me that the career that I want in the future is environmental engineering. It combines my passion for building and environmental science. I would like to work with the federal government as an engineer or at AECOM and Con Edison. I know that Earths future will be facing many challenges and changes which already shows me that current and future environmental engineers will be busy trying to find solutions to the problems anthropogenic climate change has brought to our environment. I would also like to find solutions to help our soil degradation as I see that it will be a growing problem.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter.

Regards,
